Deserved better

In my second and last attempt at qualifying for the WCOOP single draw, I finished fourth out of twelve. The winner made it while the next two both got a useful $55 back. My "prize" was five bucks, i.e. a net loss of $28. Simply put, I deserved better.

Update: I wrote that within a minute or two of my exit; I was just a bit bummed I didn't make it, or at least snag one of the $55 rebates. There was no overlay but there was a mega-fish, which amounts to much the same thing. Unfortunately he got stupidly lucky, hitting two-card draws for fun as his 1500 starting stack grew to over 7000. He eventually grabbed one of the rebates. He hailed from Morocco; he and I chatted in French for a bit, which was good until someone said "English only please". I don't quite get Stars' ruling on that to be honest. The best thing about that satellite was that I didn't have to get up before six this morning.

I did play a successful cash session of single draw after the satellite. Here are two hands from that session in which I made $42:

This guy was really bad. He'd limp in the small blind with practically any hand. Whenever it folded round to him in the SB I'd just raise my BB and pat any hand (like this) and bet after the draw, unless I happened have a good one-card draw.

Both my opponents reraised pre and drew two! Then the 32A effect kicked in, making for a ridiculously big pot when you consider that nobody had a badugi until the river.
